Blue-and-yellow Macaws are large birds, typically 81-91.5 cm in length and weighing between 900-1800 grams. They have a robust body with a long, pointed tail and a stout, hooked beak ideal for cracking seeds. Their plumage is mainly blue dorsum, light yellow/orange venter, and gradient hues of green on top of its head.
